Nyota Uhura or simply Uhura, is a fictional character in the Star Trek franchise. Uhura is a translator and communications officer specializing in linguistics, cryptography, and philology. In the original television series, the character was played by Nichelle Nichols, who played the role in the first six Star Trek feature films.
